Understanding Water Heater Anode Rods
An anode rod is a critical component of a water heater that prevents corrosion by attracting corrosive elements in the water, sacrificing itself to protect the tank. Over time, the rod corrodes and needs to be replaced to maintain the water heater’s efficiency and avoid costly repairs. It’s recommended to check the rod every two to three years, with replacement options including magnesium, aluminum, or powered anode rods, depending on water conditions.
